Clinical Excellence and Commercial success

LifeCare was established in Perth during the mid 1990’s by Mr Denis Boyd. Denis believed that physiotherapists should be appropriately rewarded for the training and expertise they have. The Lifecare brand which was successful and moved to the Eastern States in 2000 by merging with Sports Medicine Centres of Victoria. Around this time a franchise system was also established in Victoria allowing smaller practices access to the LifeCare brand and services. In 2003 LifeCare merged with Foundation HealthCare (a public company that owned medical general practices) to form Independent Practitioners Network (IPN). The merger was not a good fit and IPN decided to discontinue the Franchise system. In 2006 LifeCare became independent again when Health Networks Australia partnered with Michael Kenihan and Jon Ford in Victoria and Cameron Tweedie in Western Australia to purchase LifeCare back from IPN.

LifeCare is now the largest physiotherapy and sports medicine group in Australia. With over 42 practices nationwide, Lifecare works in partnership to create excellent practice environments where staff and practitioners can thrive.

Over the last four years Lifecare has established effective systems in their practices to assist practitioners to be more successful both clinically and commercially. LifeCare in Victoria has retained a number of practices who were part of the franchise system as affiliate partners. Affiliate practices are independently owned but have access to LifeCare’s branding, systems and services including business solutions, recruitment services, mentoring and education. LifeCare has an extensive range of tools and services in the areas of Relationship Development and Business development that affiliates have access to.
