Meet Julia Haimovich: a dietitian, a mum, a real human behind the expertise

I’m Julia Haimovich — an Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD), a Credentialled Eating Disorder Clinician (CEDC), a mum, and above all, a human being who understands the complexity of food, health, and life.

My journey into dietetics wasn’t just about food groups or nutrients — it was born from a deep desire to help people feel better in their bodies, rebuild trust with food, and live with more vitality and less confusion. I’ve been privileged to support many individuals across all stages of life — from children with behavioural eating issues, to women navigating fertility and hormonal health, to adults managing chronic illnesses or working through the mental and emotional recovery from disordered eating.

In my practice, I specialise in a broad range of areas, including chronic disease management (like diabetes, cardiovascular and liver conditions), gastrointestinal health (IBS, IBD, celiac disease), paediatric nutrition, and women’s health concerns such as PCOS, endometriosis, and pregnancy nutrition. I also have a special interest in nutritional genomics and mitochondrial health — helping people optimise how their bodies use nutrients at a genetic and cellular level. As a member of the Dietitians Australia and the Australian and New Zealand Academy for Eating Disorders (ANZAED), I hold myself to the highest standards of clinical care. I work with a deep understanding of the relationship between diet and disease, and I use evidence-based strategies to guide and support healing and wellbeing — physically, mentally, and emotionally.

I understand how nuanced whole-body approach and I strive to offer non-judgmental, client-centred care for those on a improving health or recovery journey. Food is never just about nutrients — it’s culture, comfort, connection, and sometimes, struggle. And I meet my clients exactly where they are, with empathy and evidence in equal measure.

But beyond the professional lens, I’m also a mother — which has brought a whole new depth to my work. Being a parent keeps me grounded. It reminds me of the practical realities of everyday life: rushed mornings, picky eaters, busy schedules, and the emotional layers that food can carry within a family. My experience as a mum helps me connect more deeply with the families I work with and keeps my guidance realistic, flexible, and deeply human.

At the heart of my work is collaboration — I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all approaches. Whether you’re seeking support for your child, looking to optimise your health, or navigating a complex relationship with food, I’m here to walk alongside you, not ahead of you.

And I’m not alone. I’m proud to work alongside a dedicated team of dietitians — Kristen Adams, Niki Argiros, Bella Green, Lisa Kunstler and Bridie Gurd who each bring unique strengths, specialties, and compassion to our practice.

So whether you’re here as a client, a parent, or a fellow health professional, welcome. I look forward to supporting you or your patients with warmth, professionalism, and personalised care.
