Last week, the Australian Government announced a delay to the launch of the new Aged Care Act, shifting its launch to 1 November 2025 from the originally planned 1 July 2025.
Here’s what you need to know:
Why the delay?
This decision follows sector feedback and concerns around preparedness and the need for further clarity around key details. The postponement aims to ensure a more manageable changeover.
Will this delay benefit me?
Yes! The government has outlined the delay is designed to give time to help older people, their families, providers and industry to:
- Support older people in understanding the changes.
- Finalise operational and digital systems.
- Provide implementation guidance and training.
What do I need to do now?
You do not need to do anything at this time. Your provider will be in touch to discuss your plan specifics, and discuss any requirements.
