Pelvic Floor and Womens' Health Physiotherapist
Southcare welcomed Ashlee to their Women’s Health and Continence team in early 2021. Ashlee first graduated from Curtin University in 2017 with a Bachelor in Physiotherapy and as a two-time recipient on the Vice-Chancellors List. She started her career primarily working as a musculoskeletal and clinical Pilates physiotherapist in the private sector, however early on in her career, developed a keen interest in, and fulfilment from treating in the field of women’s health physiotherapy. Therefore, she since has completed her Level 1 and 2 Introductory Training in Women’s Health Physiotherapy and Advanced Level 3 training in Pelvic Organ Prolapse and Stress Urinary Incontinence. This additional training has allowed Ashlee to gain expertise and competence in assisting women in the management of bladder and bowel incontinence, female pelvic organ prolapse and fitting vaginal support pessaries, sexual pain, pelvic floor dysfunction and ante and postnatal care. Ashlee finds special interest in combining a biopsychosocial approach with manual therapy to treat chronic pelvic pain disorders, in particular bladder pain syndrome and the multi-system sequelae associated with endometriosis. Ashlee is also proficient and certified to treat with therapeutic ultrasound and laser for perineum pain and healing and mastitis/blocked milk ducts/cracked nipples.
You will find Ashlee working in the outpatients physiotherapy clinic at Southcare, the inpatient maternity setting on St. John of God’s private maternity ward or teaching ante/postnatal hydrotherapy and clinical Pilates. Ashlee enjoys assisting the female client to exercise through their childbearing year and after birth, returning them safely back to what they enjoy, pain free.
Ashlee is a member of the Australian Physiotherapy Association, a member of the Women’s, Mens and Pelvic Health National Group and is a member of the Women’s Health Training Associates. Ashlee foresees no hesitation in completing her Post-Graduate Certificate or Clinical Masters in Continence and Women’s Health in the near future, for her ultimate goal in becoming a titled Women’s Health and Continence Physiotherapist.
When not at work, Ashlee enjoys travelling with her partner, clinical reformer Pilates, spending time at the beach with friends and family and spoiling her golden retrieve pup, Billie, silly.
