Dr. Peter Fuller

Dr Peter Fuller is a highly regarded musculoskeletal specialist and a Fellow, founding Member and inaugural Vice-President of the Australasian College of Sport and Exercise Physicians that was established in the 1980’s.
He joined the Lifecare Ashburton practice at that time and has recently joined Lifecare Prahran. Prior to becoming a physician he was a fully-qualified medical practitioner, working as a GP then as a sports doctor.
Dr Fuller is a former elite middle-distance runner (with mile PB of 3:56.8) and competitive cyclist.
With over 35 years’ experience treating Australian and overseas professional elite athletes as well as recreational sports people and the general population across all age groups, he is an authority in the diagnosis and clinical management of both acute injuries as well as complex, hard-to-diagnose musculoskeletal pain and other problems.
Dr Fuller has extensive expertise in performing techniques such as ITB Tenotomy (tendon release), a technique he exclusively developed in the 1980’s, as well as Extracorporeal ShockWave Therapy and Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) injections.
Dr Fuller works extensively within professional sport and has been team doctor for Drapac Professional Cycling since 2009 and the Melbourne Track Club since 2000. He has a special interest in young athletes and their joint pains, growth plate inflammations and spinal/back pain. He works closely with eminent orthopaedic surgeons and regularly assists in surgery on his own referred patients.
Dr Fuller also has expertise in diagnosing medical problems such as persistent fatigue/poor performance, iron deficiency, exercise-induced asthma, gastrointestinal issues (including the leaky gut syndrome and the gut microbiome). He is a proponent of LCHF (low carbohydrate/healthy fat) eating, and the relationship of diet to cardiovascular and other diseases
