Dr Julien Freitag is now a registered physician of the Australasian College of Sports Physicians. He has completed a Bachelor of Medical Science at the Australian Institute of Sport and was involved in the development of a test for the detection of EPO abuse prior to the Sydney Olympics.
Dr Freitag has worked as a medical professional at both the Tour Down Under and UCI World Cup cycling events. He has represented Australia in triathlon at international level and raced professionally on the European triathlon circuit.
Dr Freitag has a keen interest in the areas of tendinopathy and osteoarthritis and is directly involved in research into next-generation treatment of these conditions.
Dr Freitag's practice involves interventional therapies such as Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) and Extracorporeal ShockWave Therapy.
For the past two seasons Julien has been the match Dr for the Frankston Dolphins VFL team. He has also worked closely with Cycling Australia as the Doping Commissionaire at the Tour Down Under and as the race Dr at the Geelong UCI World Cup Road Race
Julien is a keen triathlete having represented Australia at the World Duathlon Championships and completed professionally in the Belgium Super Prestige Series. He remains heavily involved in triathlon-both as a competitor and doctor.
