Ben Power - Physiotherapist

Ben attained a BHSc (Sp & Ex Sc) in 1996 and then completed his BAppSc (PHTY) at The University of Sydney in 2000. He worked extensively in Australia and the UK before becoming Practice Principal of Leichhardt Sports Physiotherapy (formerly Lewisham Physiotherapy & Sports Medicine) in 2005. He is an active member of the inner west Primary Health Network and has developed strong relationships with local doctors, surgeons & sporting clubs.

Having competed professionally himself in MMA and BJJ (and experienced his fair share of injuries!) Ben has first-hand, in-depth understanding of sports performance, rehabilitation and injury management. He has worked with a variety of high level athletes from Australian representative basketball, rugby and cricket players to elite UFC fighters and has been head physiotherapist for Trinity Grammar School’s rugby and football programs for over a decade.

Ben maintains a keen interest in the latest evidence based physiotherapy research and clinical updates particularly for neck, shoulder, knee and combat sports injuries. He has many years experience as a clinical educator for students from USyd, UON, CSU and MQU and is currently an Adjunct Clinical Supervisor and Casual Musculoskeletal Tutor for Macquarie University’s Doctor of Physiotherapy program and teaches Graduate Physiotherapists as part of the HNA/Lifecare mentoring program.

Away from the clinic Ben coaches BJJ, plays guitar and spends as much time as possible with his wonderful wife and boys.
