Leichhardt Sports Physiotherapy (formerly Lewisham Sports Physiotherapy) has been a part of the Inner West community for over 20 years, helping local residents stay active and healthy.

Our experienced and knowledgeable team, led by Practice Principal Matteo Bianchino, use a hands-on treatment approach, combining manual therapy with exercise programs to deliver the best outcomes for our patients.

FAQs

Do I need a referral to see a physio?

You usually don’t need a GP referral to see a physiotherapist.

Can I claim on my private health?

Physiotherapy, remedial massage, and clinical Pilates can be claimed on private health insurance depending on your extras cover. You may need to contact your health fund to find out exactly what you’re covered for.

We can submit claims on the spot with our HICAPS terminal.

Is any of this covered by Medicare?

DVA white or gold card holders with a valid GP referral are eligible for bulk-billed sessions.

For other patients, if you have a Team Care Plan from your GP, you may be entitled to up to 5 Medicare-subsidised appointments with a small gap fee. Please call the clinic for more information.

Do you accept patients with workers compensation or CTP claims?

Our physiotherapists have extensive experience in treating injuries resulting from workplace incidents or motor vehicle accidents. Please call the clinic for more information.

I’m in the shopping centre but I can’t see the clinic, where are you?

The clinic is located on the Upper Ground Floor of MarketPlace Shopping Centre, opposite Woolworths.

It’s my first time seeing a physio, what can I expect?

It can be a little daunting seeing a new provider for the first time, but not to worry, our team is here to support your recovery. Initial appointments will usually involve the physio getting to know you a bit, taking history, and assessing the injury. After that, they will work with you to create an appropriate treatment plan to help you get back to 100%. If possible, wear comfortable clothing that doesn’t restrict movement too much to make assessment easier.
