The origins of LifeCare began in 1985. The LifeCare name came from a highly successful network of practices in Perth. Around the same time Sports Medicine Centres of Victoria developed a number of large multi-disciplinary sports medicine practices based on successful practices at Prahran and Ashwood.
In 2000 LifeCare and Sports Medicine Centres of Victoria merged to become the largest network of physiotherapy and allied health private practices in Australia at that time.
In 2006 another group operating private physiotherapy practices, Health Networks Australia (HNA) bought Lifecare. Operating as HNA and LifeCare the group grew to over 300 allied health professionals and more than 30 practices across Australia.
The success of HNA/LifeCare practices was based around its structure of operating as a “federated partnership model” with the principals within each practice ensuring quality service with the support of efficient business management.
In late 2016 HNA/Lifecare was acquired by a publicly owned company, Zenitas Healthcare Limited (Zenitas), and listed on the ASX. This latest exciting development will enable the HNA and Lifecare practices to become part of a more diversified health services business.
Zenitas’ additional service offerings include, but are not limited to, Exercise physiologists, General Practitioners, Home Care and Respite, ultimately enhancing the range and quality of services provided.
