Jenny Tweedie

Senior Woman's Health Physiotherapist

Australian Physiotherapy Association (APA)
Continence and Women’s Health Special Group
Continence Foundation of Australia

Jen started working for Lifecare in 2001 taking fitball classes, for predominantly pregnant and postnatal women following the birth of her 2nd child. Following the birth of her 3rd child she started attending the newly established studio Pilates classes at Lifecare’s Wembley centre in 2002 as a client to assist in the management of her lower back and pelvic girdle pain which had commenced during the later stages of her pregnancy. She was so impressed at the effectiveness of Pilates in alleviating her symptoms and improving her strength that 2 years later she completed the 12 month Lifecare instructor training programme.

Ten years down the track Jen is still working as a Pilates Physiotherapist and is co-coordinator of this same training program which is continually evolving to take into account current research. She enjoys instructing other Lifecare physiotherapists in Physiotherapy Pilates as she knows first-hand how beneficial it can be, particularly in the childbearing years.

Jen finds working with pregnant and postnatal women particularly rewarding and in 2008 completed her Graduate Certificate in Continence and Women’s Health Physiotherapy at Curtin University. This has provided her with the skills to help a broader range of problems in both men and women. She regularly sees women with pelvic floor and bladder and bowel dysfunction of many different ages, and this, combined with her Pilates knowledge, has her well qualified to advise women on appropriate exercise, particularly pelvic-floor-friendly exercise, which she feels is generally poorly understood by many women.

Jen is a member of the Australian Physiotherapy Association (APA), the Continence and Women’s Health Special Group and Continence Foundation of Australia.

Personal Interests

Away from work, Jen loves keeping in touch with friends and family, swimming, travel, and raising happy, healthy and well-balanced children – and hopefully not forgetting to pick them up from their multitude of sporting pursuits!
